The grazing transit of 1999


Presentation

- The canon includes all the transits of Mercury from -2000 to +3000.

- They are computed for a geocentric observer.

- Some grazing transits visible only on some points of the Earth have been also included (eg 1125, 1342, 1937)

- The text file is organized on the basis of one record per transit


- The difference between TDB and UT is quadratically extrapolated in the distant past or in the future from known values of TD - UT.

- The difference reaches several hours in the distance past, so JD xxxxxxx.500 is not the beginning of a calendar day in UT.

- Computations are based on planetary theories developped at the Institut de Mécanique Céleste in Paris (IMCCE)
