Dynamo Action in
Rotating Convection
David Hughes ,
University of Leeds
The nature of linear and
nonlinear dynamo action driven by highly supercritical rotating
convection is examined.
Strong (approximately equipartition) small-scale fields are generated,
but only very weak large-scale fields.
The results also suggest that this system acts as a fast small-scale
dynamo, but as a slow large-scale dynamo.
