Chaque Jeudi, à 15h00, nous nous réunissons au PHC pour discuter soit d’un article, soit de travaux en cours, soit de sujets libres. Matthieu Havel (doctorant) était responsable de l’organisation pour la période Janvier-Mars 2011. Naomi Murdoch (doctorante) a pris le relais pour la période Avril-Juin 2011. Elena Lega et Julie Gayon-Markt sont responsable pour la période Septembre 2011-Septembre 2012. Bertram Bitsch (post-doc) prends le relais jusqu’à fin 2012.
Les théminaires se consacrent à la Planétologie. Ils peuvent faire l’objet de journal club autour d’un article (pas plus d’une heure), de discussion autour d’un travail d’un membre ou étudiant, ou simplement de discussion libre autour d’un thé! Le format est décidé une ou quelques semaines en amont.

Guest presentation: Dhrubaditya Mitra (NORDITA, Stockholm) who will talk about "Can Planetesimals form by collisional fusion?"
Abstract:
As a test bed for the growth of protoplanetary bodies in a turbulent circumstellar disk we examine the fate of a boulder using direct
numerical simulations of particle seeded gas flowing around it. We provide an accurate description of the flow by imposing no-slip and non-penetrating
boundary conditions on the boulder surface using the immersed boundary method of Peskin. Advected by the turbulent disk flow, the dust grains collide
with the boulder and we compute the probability density function (PDF) of the normal component of the collisional velocity. Through an examination of
the collisional statistics we test the recently developed concept of collisional fusion which provides a physical basis for a range of collisional
velocities exhibiting perfect sticking. A boulder can then grow sufficiently rapidly to settle into a Keplerian orbit on disk evolution time scales. A

Guest presentation; Olivier Absil will present: A near-infrared interferometric survey for bright exozodiacal disks.
Abstract: Since 2006, we have been conducting a near-infrared survey for bright exozodiacal disks using the FLUOR interferometer at the CHARA array. The first results of this survey, encompassing 42 nearby main sequence stars, will be presented and discussed. The unexpectedly high occurence rate and its apparent correlation with spectral type question the nature of the circumstellar excess emission detected at K band. I will also describe the current efforts to extend our stellar sample, including in the Southern hemisphere thanks to the PIONIER instrument at VLTI. First results obtained with VLTI/PIONIER will be discussed.

L’équipe étant élargie dans cette nouvelle UMR, il faudra notamment discuter des projets incluant les nouveaux membres, toujours bienvenus et sollicités pour ces théminaires.
